Along the coastline washed by the Pacific Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of California, there are half a thousand unique beaches.

The uniqueness of choosing a beach in Mexico for a suitable holiday is that they are all very diverse due to their unique natural topography and rock formations. Some beaches are remote and surrounded by lush green jungle and ancient ruins of local tribes, others are endless sandy beaches with soft sand and calm waters that are ideal for swimming, and there are also "secret" beaches ideal for active rest: surfing, diving and snorkeling.

Beaches of Tulum

Famous rich history ancient Mayan tribe, attracts numerous lovers of antiquities. The remains of ruins from their buildings dating back to the 13th century found here create a special natural relief of these places. The beaches of Tulum are the perfect destination for all history buffs. It is not difficult to get here, since the journey from the popular resort of Cancun takes only 2 hours.

The beach shore is white soft sand. Here you can find some shade as numerous palm trees grow under the edge of the beach. Near the beach on the shore there are natural caster lakes with fresh water, where you can refresh yourself after the salty sea waters. On the first line of the coast there are comfortable hotels where you can book accommodation.

If vacationers want to truly relax and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the city, Tulum and its beaches are an excellent place for a secluded holiday.

Akumal Beach

Akumal Beach is a great place to see sea turtles. The name of the beach translates as “turtle place.” The fact is that the beach is a favorite place for sea turtles, which come ashore and lay eggs. Scuba diving at Akumal Beach is a must for lovers of underwater excursions and acquaintance with coral reefs and their inhabitants.

Akumal Beach is ideal for families with children, since the shore and bottom are clean and not rocky, and you can easily find a secluded place here, even on weekends.

The beach is located just 5 km south of Zihuatanejo. This white sand beach is named after the baleen nurse sharks that have long inhabited these waters.

It's not easy to get to, which is why this beach is a favorite destination for those looking for lesser-known attractions and places to relax. There are only two to get here. Savage vacationers most often choose the route of a winding, steep path that goes down to the beach.

Those who relax comfortably can rent a motor boat. Scuba diving enthusiasts can dive into the rocks off the shore of the bay.

For those who are hungry, there are several restaurants on the beach that serve delicious seafood. The best shrimp can be found in the restaurant – Otilia. Local attractions include a lighthouse next to the beach, offering breathtaking views of the coastline and cliffs.

World Famous Beaches of Cancun

The most popular place is Cancun Beach. 22.5 km long beach - an untouched strip white sand and crystal clear turquoise waters. For the Mayan tribes, this place was part of life and worship of the mysterious gods. Numerous ancient buildings that have become famous attractions allow us to come to this conclusion.

Off the beach lies an amazing coral reef, ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving. Vacationers can also go kayaking, fishing or kayaking.

Attractive hotels are lined along the coastline, and the hotels have several restaurants with outdoor terraces where visitors can try a variety of Mexican cuisine. Cancun Beach can be compared to Las Vegas stretching along the beach due to the huge number of entertainment, resorts and luxury hotels.

For those looking to grab a bite to eat, local vendors line the beach offering refreshing drinks and seafood.

Zipolite Beach for hippie travelers

Zipolite

Zipolite was a favorite hippie spot from the 1960s to the 1980s. It was a center of relaxation, fun and a variety of youth activities. Hippie travelers from all over the world came here. This beach was also one of the first wilderness areas for recreation, camping and tent camps. Nudists also loved to relax here.

Today, Zipolite Beach attracts fewer hippies, but everyone who loves yoga and surfing still gathers here.

There are budget hotels along the beach that offer a great getaway on a budget, but there are also several luxury hotels and trendy restaurants on the western side.

Famous Playa del Amor

Playa del Amor is one of the most famous beaches in Mexico. It is easily accessible by boat from the marina in Cabo San Lucas.

Playa del Amor is also known as “Lover’s Beach” because it is known for its romantic setting.

The beach is subject to frequent Pacific tides, so it is recommended to enter the water only in the Bahia de Cabo San Lucas area. The Cortez side of Playa del Amor is ideal for snorkeling and attracts mainly locals and scuba diving enthusiasts. Although getting here is not easy, the relaxation and experience of this pleasant and cozy beach is definitely worth any effort.

Ideal beach for swimming Playa de Tecolote

One of the busiest beaches in La Paz is Playa de Tecolote. It is an ideal beach for swimming. It offers stunning views of the uninhabited island of Espiritu Santo.

Local beach vendors offer specialties such as marlin en escabeche and chocolate clams.

While Playa de Tecolot may not be as popular as nearby Balandra Beach, it provides its own unique beach experience. Basic amenities including showers and toilets can be found here. If you want to order a full dinner, you can go to the El Tecolote bar-restaurant, where orders are provided with an extensive menu of fresh seafood and gourmet dishes from them.

Bahia Balandra

The beach is located in the Baja La Paz region, known for its rocky terrain. The largest rock is called Diamond Rock. The beach is protected by a natural bay on all sides, which makes the sea waters around it completely safe, and the underwater reefs attractive to many underwater inhabitants. Therefore, snorkelers can spend an unforgettable time here.

Although the waters of Bahina Balandra belong to the cold Pacific current, the water warms up well thanks to direct sunlight. Therefore, in shallow water and on the surface it is ideal for comfortable swimming.

There are no beach facilities on the shore, making Bahía Balandra a less crowded beach than its neighbors. Therefore, here you can find a calm and quiet holiday on the outskirts, away from noisy fun.

One of the best beaches in the Riviera Maya is Playa Maroma. According to surveys, this beach is one of the ten best beaches in the world.

The beach stretches for 6 km and is part of the Catalonia all-inclusive resort. Gentle waters and fine soft sand provide a comfortable stay and the opportunity to completely relax and immerse yourself in relaxation. The beach is ideal for swimming and looks as beautiful as if it came straight out of the pages of glossy magazines.

The only drawback to Playa Maroma is the lack budget options resettlement. Here you can find only luxury villas and boutique hotels.

Ziggy Beach

The resort is located in the Riviera Maya - this is a very popular place for both partygoers and those who want to get closer to nature. The underwater reef is home to hundreds of species of fish and arthropods. It is this colorful and diverse flora and fauna that attracts those who want to learn about what lies beneath the surface of the gentle waters.

The shore is divided into two separate sections of the beach. One area belongs to the beach club - Ziggy Beach Club, and the other part of the beach is open to the public.

Ziggy Beach is also famous for its many aquatic species sports:

  • padding;
  • kayaking;
  • sailing;
  • water skiing.

The beach has developed infrastructure:

  • shops for renting sports equipment;
  • cafe;
  • boutiques;
  • restaurants;
  • night club.

This is a sandy and limestone beach, so it is not very comfortable to walk barefoot here. Due to the fact that you need to wear shoes on the beach, many vacationers tend to avoid this place. That's why there are quite a few people here.

However, for those who are not looking for easy ways and do not feel inconvenienced by the need to take shoes with them, the beach reveals its attractive sides and is ready to give an unforgettable experience.

The fascinating coral garden is a real paradise for scuba divers and snorkelers. Paamul Beach has several bars, shops and restaurants, as well as a public swimming pool, for those who want to cool off in the fresh water and avoid the, for many, unpleasant, scratchy sand.

Isla Holbeck

Isla Holbox is a small island located just three hours from Cancun. Some call this place the Yutacan Peninsula's best kept secret due to its deserted beaches, laid-back atmosphere and shallow waters.

There are not many ways to get here, and the island itself has not yet been greatly exploited for commercial purposes. This is certainly great news for visitors looking for an unforgettable experience in this unspoiled place of peace and quiet. Most of the beaches on the island are ideal for swimming in calm waters. The sandy shore with cute shells creates an unusual natural landscape.

Therefore, all connoisseurs of a relaxing holiday or those who want to relax in tents can experience the charm of these places and majestic landscapes.

Thanks to local legislation in Mexico, the beaches belong to the state and the administration of the hotel located nearby does not have the right to prohibit recreation there (they deal with this situation differently - they rent out equipment, generally trying to ensure that there are no strangers). So, our rating of the best beaches in Mexico.

This is the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, there is a large number of beaches and all as one - with white sand and clear water. I would like to highlight Maroma from all this multitude, firstly, it is fenced off from the noise and bustle of the jungle, secondly, it is practically deserted, and thirdly, the beach there is without pebbles and seaweed thrown out by the sea.

It is also notable for the presence of a resort complex - Secrets Maroma Resorts. There is everything for guests here comfortable rest- swimming pools, restaurants serving delicious food, bars with a wide selection of drinks, and excellent accommodation. Finding Maroma Beach is easy - it is 24 kilometers from Playa del Carmen, 48 from Cancun.

There are actually two beaches in Akumal, they are located in bays - Half Moon Bay (Half Moon Bay) and Akumal Bay (Akumal Bay). The latter is notable for the fact that there are almost no waves and a very beautiful underwater world. Akumal Beach is a paradise for diving, and there are also turtles there that you can swim with.

Beach in Tulum (Tulum Beach)

Tulum is ancient city Maya, where ruins are still preserved, a visit to which can be combined with an excellent holiday on the beach - snow-white sand, crystal clear water, small waves. Early in the morning you can watch a stunning spectacle - the sunrise over the Caribbean Sea.

Sian Kaan is a Biosphere Reserve, its beaches are located next to Tulum, in general they immediately start from Tulum and stretch all the way to Punta Allen. You can get there directly from Tulum. This beach is suitable for those who love silence, because there are no usual bars, cafes, shops and other things on it, so when going there, it is better to take everything for relaxation with you in advance. A very nice beach where you can really relax from everything.

Boca Paila Beach

This beach is also located on the territory of Siin Kaan, and its main difference is the absence of crowds of tourists, but that’s not all. Nearby are Boca Paila Lodge - the best fishing cottages (considered one of the best in the world). There you can not only go fishing, but also have a great rest. There is everything for this, including a wide range of services.

Puerto Morelos is a fishing village and a great place to relax. If we consider all the beaches of the Riviera Maya, then Puerto Morelos Beach is one of the most untouched by our civilization with its eternal passion for hosting more clubs, bars and other entertainment venues. Along the entire coast of Quintana Roo you will not find reefs that are as close to the shore as in Puerto Morelos. More than 15 years ago, the reefs in this area became part of the National marine park, and this, in turn, influenced the fact that a ban on boating and fishing was introduced.

Playa del Amor is recognized as the best in Mexico, or rather, one of the ten best. But given that there are a lot of beaches here, this is a serious statement. It is ideally located - the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Sea of Cortez on the other. How to get there? There are two ways - rent a kayak or take a boat yourself. If you get there by boat, please note that you won’t be able to moor directly to the beach - there are always a lot of people there, so you will have to swim some distance from the beach and stop there near the shore.

Isla Mujeres received its name because of the large number of statues. It is located near Cancun. South coast unsuitable for recreation, because there are only rocks, but the northern part of the island is all beaches, with their stunning sand and clear water. Isla Mujeres, by the way, was recognized as a national park and is under state protection. A small part of the island is located on a coral reef, part of the general system of Mesoamerican reefs (no one gives an exact estimate, but on average their approximate age has been calculated - 125 thousand years). It is not only their beauty that attracts tourists to these beaches; you can meet a large number of divers diving in search of mythical Mayan treasures.

But if you are interested in diving, then you will like the underwater museum located in the waters of the marine park, where you can see many statues at the bottom. In general, there are quite a lot of different entertainments on the island - for example, you can rent a moped or a bicycle and go for a ride, or go kayaking, or visit a turtle farm. There are many beaches on the island itself - and almost all of them are popular and there are quite a lot of vacationers there, for example Playa Norte, but there are many other places where there are not so many tourists, but you can just as beautifully and just as wonderfully relax - Playa Indios, Playa Paraiso et al.

It primarily attracts diving enthusiasts, because here you can dive and observe the amazing beauty of the underwater world; there are a lot of reef fish there. True, this place is known to many, so Hidden Beach is almost always crowded. In Puerto Vallarta, excursions have long been organized, where in one day you can visit several islands and get to the Hidden Beach. It is noteworthy that you can get to the beach through a tunnel.

This beach can be classified as the most traditional beach, it is located in Acapulco, its peculiarity is that it is protected from the sea, and it is very good to relax there with the whole family. You don't have to worry about the waves. Of course, this beach, in addition to calm water, also has other qualities - soft and clean sand, clear water and many additional amenities (everything you want is there - restaurants, cafes, etc.)

Manzanillera Beach

This beach is located on the Pacific coast of Michocan, near the city of Lazaro Cardenas. This beach is memorable because there beautiful landscapes, created by nature itself, and not everything was artificially equipped, and there is also interesting sand there - white and coarse, so that from a distance it seems as if rice was poured over the entire surface of the beach.

The rocks approach right to the seashore, there is a lot of moss and tropical trees on them - it looks very beautiful. There are also not many people there, there is somewhere to lie down, relax, sunbathe and swim. There are also places to stay - several inns have been built nearby, which have the necessary set of amenities, not a five-star hotel, of course, but quite acceptable. There is a nice cafe at the top of the hill.

Camaron Beach

If you find a list of the most beautiful beaches of the Pacific Ocean, Camaron is one of the first there; it is located in a resort area equipped with everything necessary - hotels, restaurants and other establishments. In principle, there is nothing particularly outstanding on the beach, the same soft sand, the same endless sea, high-rise buildings nearby, unusual nature - with some kind of unique charm. It’s just a pity that this extraordinary beauty attracts many, and therefore there are always a lot of people on the beach - these are not only vacationing tourists and, but also countless merchants, there are also a lot of offers for entertainment, everything for active recreation.

North Beach

It is an extension of Mazatlán, being in fact its main harbor, which gives it a pleasant feature. It is popular among athletes; morning jogging, various swims, a lot of volleyball and football courts are not uncommon there - they even hold competitions there. There are restaurants that serve incredibly delicious fish and seafood dishes.

If you find yourself in the state of Jalisco, be sure to go to its southern part, where Tenasatita Beach is located, a fairly quiet beach where you can relax from all the noise and hustle and bustle of popular resort towns. It is simply ideal - a sandy beach, small cafes with Mexican dishes, there are surfers there and sometimes quite large waves, which attracts real extreme sports enthusiasts to the beach.

And again, surfing, but in principle – the sea is a haven, after all, not only for swimming. It is on this beach that competitions are held. If you're in Mexico in August or November, you might be able to catch one of these. The beach itself is located in the east of Puerto Escondido. Although in fact, the surfing season here begins in April, good waves are favorable for this.

You can stay at any of the hotels on the beach, the prices here are quite affordable and you can choose any one based on your own capabilities. There are places to eat deliciously - cafes and restaurants. The beach itself is equipped with hammocks, changing cabins, showers and other amenities; in addition, entire recreation centers have been built there, where there are swimming pools, parking lots, etc.

Tamarindos Beach

Acapulco is famous for this beach; it is not only one of the most popular, but also one of the very first. I would say that this beach is very soulful - the sand is very fine, therefore soft, there are waves, but they are small, there are many palm trees. Restaurants serving delicious food. A special feature of the beach is the pier where yachts and fishing boats moor.

Sabalo Beach

A very decent beach and very popular. If you want to go on a walk by the sea, you will love the view from the sea - islands, hotels, everything is very picturesque, like a picture of the best beach in the world. The hotels there are good and quite comfortable; a large number of tourists stay every year. If you like this type of holiday - where everything is offered - fishing, boat trips, beach sports and much more, then welcome to Sabalo Beach. Another pleasant feature is the absence of big waves; surfers, of course, have nothing to do here, but families with children are a real paradise.

If you describe a classic beach in Mexico, then there will definitely be extraordinary white sand and azure sea. These two features are enough to fall in love with Mexico and enjoy your vacation. One such place is Xpu-Ha Beach. There are bungalows, hotels, restaurants and cafes, umbrellas and sunbeds are rented, and there are many sports to choose from. The beach itself can be roughly divided into two parts - in one, relaxation is in full swing, and in the other there are fewer people and there you can relax and unwind, or just take a walk, forgetting about all your problems.

One of the most bustling, developed, fashionable and popular resorts in Latin America, Cancun is a sand dune in the shape of the number “7”, separated from the mainland by a lagoon and two narrow canals. Forty years ago, only a few knew about the existence of a stretch of land (21 km long and just over half a kilometer wide), but after the opening of the first hotels and international airport in 1974, the coastal infrastructure began to grow rapidly, and by the 90s Cancun had become the largest resort in the Caribbean.
Tourists can enjoy many restaurants where they can taste dishes from all over the world, more than 2,000 shops, large shopping centers and souvenir shops, SPA centers and golf courses, water sports and diving centers, exciting discos and fashionable clubs, beach parties and concerts. world-class stars. The main attraction of the resort is the pedestrian street Fifth Avenue. There are many restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, shops, discos and other entertainment venues. In the evening, dancers and musicians gather on Fifth Avenue and put on spectacular shows for tourists.
The resort is located 50 kilometers south of Cancun. Many of the Riviera Maya's beaches are considered some of the most beautiful in the world. The coastline, once dotted with sleepy fishing villages, retains its tropical charm today, but today there are numerous hotels built here, from small tropical bungalows right on the sea's edge to huge resort hotels. But, unlike the noisy, never-sleeping Cancun, the Riviera Maya has an atmosphere of calm and complete harmony with nature. You can relax here all year round: the winter months are characterized by sunny, mild weather, and July and August are considered the hottest and wettest months.
The Riviera Maya is famous for the world's largest system of underground rivers and cenotes in the jungle and on the coast, of which there are about a hundred. The network of underground reservoirs of the Yucatan Peninsula has not been fully explored. Until now, scientists are discovering new rivers and caves that attract spelunking divers.
A fishing village with hotel infrastructure (15 km south of Cancun International Airport, 36 km north of Playa del Carmen). Here you can spend carefree holidays with a bohemian touch: several artists, writers and artisans have settled in Puerto Morelos. Near the resort is the Crocotun crocodile farm, Botanical Gardens, a marine park with impressive coral formations, schools of tropical fish, dolphins, turtles, etc. In ancient times, Tulum was an important Mayan defensive and trading city, located right on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. Among the buildings of the city, the fortress stands out - the tallest building in Tulum (from the top of the building a breathtaking panorama of the sea and coast opens), the central square where important ceremonies were held, the Temple of the Descending God, the Temple of Frescoes, the Temple of the God of the Winds, considered one of the incarnations of the god Kukulkan, and many others. Tulum is also famous for its cenotes (natural wells), which have supplied clean water to local residents for thousands of years, and its snow-white beaches. The mysterious Island of Women (Isla Mujeres), steeped in ancient Indian legends, is located 8 km from bustling Cancun. You can get there by ferry in just 30 minutes. Beautiful beaches, the turquoise Caribbean Sea, dense tropical bushes, numerous narrow streets with colorful houses and souvenir shops, ruins and the historical heritage of the Indians, endless opportunities for lovers of snorkeling and diving (this is where the world-famous underwater sculpture museum and a wonderful dolphinarium are located) - you will find all this on an amazing small island.
Even on the island of Cozumel, you can explore numerous deserted beaches of extraordinary beauty that fascinate even experienced travelers. Fans of excursions can visit national parks, a dolphinarium, the ruins of ancient Indian settlements, the island’s museum, and also stroll through the souvenir and jewelry shops of the local capital, the city of San Miguel.

I know Mexico very well, there are really a lot of beautiful beaches, amazing shades of water in the sea, excellent surfing spots. But still, do not forget that this country is a developing one, and therefore you will not find here the comfort, cleanliness and service of Europe, cities where you can walk far and wide without fear.

Mexico has the status of the best beach resort among the countries not in the top ten, but you should always be careful, especially when choosing a hotel. If you have already traveled all over the Mediterranean, including Spain, Italy and Turkey, feel free to try your luck in Mexico. I would advise everyone to start with a week in Cancun and then, only if you like the Mexican flavor, return for a longer trip.

Mexican beaches can be very different: snow-white, beige, fiery orange, so you should be careful when choosing a resort. The best ones are in the state of Quintana Roo and actually have a Caribbean feel. However, it is very important even in the most popular tourist cities understand that Mexico is still a third world country, and a comfortable vacation here can only be obtained in 4* and 5* hotels.

However, beach holidays in Mexico are in demand all over the world. Most of all, Americans like to come here on vacation, which allows resorts to strive for the best level of service.

Are there beach holidays in Mexico? There definitely is! But not in all parts of the country. There are several regions that are perfect for a beach holiday, most of them are internationally recognized resorts and loved by tourists from many countries. Most popular resort among Europeans - Cancun in the state of Quintana Roo, among Americans - Cabo San Lucas in California and Cancun. And now more about them and more!

Top 5 regions in Mexico for beach holidays

Mexico has several coastal holiday regions. Two of them are located in its eastern part (on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea), two are in the southwestern part (south of the capital Mexico City) and one more - the California Peninsula - is located in the west, on the border with the United States.

Most of all, I love Quintana Roo with its snow-white beaches and, if I could turn back time, I would stay there for the entire six months and not waste time on the rest of Mexico.

State of Quintana Roo

This is the perfect beach holiday with a huge coastline and turquoise water. Most popular for its incredibly beautiful and huge beaches, the region of Mexico is an excellent choice for Europeans due to the availability of air travel. Read about how to get to Mesika from Russia. The plane flies from Moscow to Cancun for only 13 hours, although it seems to cover half the world!

I strongly advise you to stay in a 4* or 5* hotel on one of the beaches and not even try to rent a cheap hotel room in the center of any of the cities of Quintana Roo.

How to get there

Quintana Roo is usually reached through the international airport in Cancun called Aeropuerto Nacional de Cancun. Flights can be different: direct - Cancun and - Cancun, with a transfer in the USA (,) or Germany (,). In the summer, there can be very cheap direct charters from Moscow and St. Petersburg; you can compare prices from different carriers.

Best resorts in Quintana Roo

I would like to dwell in more detail on the three best resorts in the Quintana Roo region with stunning beaches and well-developed tourist infrastructure. I showed them on the map:

Personally, I would choose Cancun for my first visit to Mexico, as Playa del Carmen does not have the caliber of beaches as Cancun, and Tulum is simply too small to be interesting. But I’ll tell you about each in detail in order to make choosing a vacation spot as simple as possible, so:

State of Yucatan

It has wild spots and a Caribbean feel, and is also a great place for a “wild beach holiday” in small resort towns.

In Yucatan you can meet flamingos, feel the atmosphere of the Caribbean islands and immerse yourself in a special “I don’t want anything, where are my cocktails” mood.

How to get there

The Yucatan is also usually reached through the international airport in Cancun called Aeropuerto Nacional de Cancun. Let me remind you that flights can be different: direct - Cancun and - Cancun, with a transfer in the USA (,) or Germany (,). In the summer there can be very cheap direct charters from Moscow and St. Petersburg. It is also possible to take a flight through the capital directly to Merida (the main city of this state).

The best resorts in Yucatan

Below I will share with you three of the best cities for a beach holiday in the Yucatan. They are all small, but interesting and beautiful:

State of Guerrero

This is the Pacific Ocean and an alternative vacation. There is only one in the Guerrero region big resort Acapulco and about a dozen small towns on the coast, which are located here solely because of some beautiful bay or beach.

The Guerrero area is loved, first of all, by the Mexicans themselves.

How to get there

The easiest way to get to the state of Guerrero is by air through Mexico City. Typically, a route from Moscow or St. Petersburg is made with a transfer in the USA, Europe (usually) or Cuba. Next flight is to Acapulco, then a bus from the airport to your city or area.

Best resorts in Guerrero

Two best resort towns Guerrero counties are marked on the map below:

And now a little more about each:

State of Oaxaca

This is a place for those who want to see all of Mexico at once on a big tour, because few people would dare to go to Oaxaca just for a week, soak up the sand, when you can fly to Cancun. However, it is a surfers paradise.

And all because in Oaxaca there are spots for all categories, beginners and professionals, so there are usually a lot of cheap hostels and hotels for students.

How to get there

The easiest way to get to Oaxaca is by air via Mexico City. Typically, a route from Moscow or St. Petersburg is made with a transfer in the USA, Europe (usually) or Cuba. Next flight is Puerto Escondido, then a bus to your city or area.

The best resorts in Oaxaca

Oaxaca's two best resorts - Puerto Escondido and Puerto Angel - are located close to each other. The chic spot Zicatela, famous throughout the world for its high waves and beautiful beach, is located in Puerto Escondido, in the eastern part of the city.

  • Puerto Angel- it's orange sand, cafes on the beach right under the palm trees, blue waters and lots of quiet, wild places to explore.

States of Bahia California and Baja California South (Bahía California; Bahía California South)

A huge disadvantage of these resorts is that they have very dirty beaches, since Mexicans themselves often come here, who, alas, are not famous for cleanliness. Usually the garbage is represented by simple plastic and wrappers, but it clearly spoils the holiday experience. Although, I should note that an expensive 5* hotel in Cabo may have a perfectly clean beach, but more on that later. The map shows the two main resorts of the states.

And now I’ll tell you about each:

The best cities for a beach holiday

Below you will see a list of just two of the most popular resort towns for a beach holiday in this country.

When is the season

From November to May The best season for a beach holiday in Mexico lasts, also called the “dry season”. That is, in fact, this is our winter, which is also a colder season of the year there, but much more attractive for tourists. At this time, the air temperature remains at +26–32 °C, water temperature - +23–25 °C.

Is there a chance that the water and weather will be too cold? Yes, but small. For most Europeans, holidays in Mexico are most comfortable in December-February.

If you are not afraid of humidity and rain and want the hottest weather and the warmest sea possible, come in April-May or July-September. Perhaps it will rain a day or two from your vacation (for half a day or at night), but it will still be warm and swimming in the sea will be more than comfortable.

Mexico is very hot and humid from May to November. Many may say that this is the main summer season for beach holidays in the country, but this statement is not true for any resident of a cold climate who is not at all accustomed to 95% humidity every day, +40 °C during the day and +25 °C at night , as well as water at +28 ° C, which will not give you a refreshing effect.

In the summer in Mexico it is very, very stuffy, and a lot of sewage fumes from the streets get into the air. Also in the summer and autumn there is a hurricane season in Mexico, the probability of getting into it is small, but still exists. From May to November, you may encounter the problem of incredible humidity, when towels and clothes simply do not dry, even with the air conditioner running and “breathing” on them. In addition, from May to November you can encounter high waves on the coast.

Surf season on Pacific Ocean- in summer, the best month with high waves is July or August on different beaches.

To summarize

Below you will see a map of the regions of Mexico; places where tourists are not advised to visit for any reason are marked in orange and red. The regions we mentioned above are always green.

In all central states of the country, including (!) the state of Veracruz, there is no beach holiday! Veracruz is a port city, with dirty and crowded local beaches. There is literally unsanitary conditions here, and the closest area to the beaches is a real ghetto.

So, if you are going to Mexico for the first time on a beach holiday, I would advise you to go to Cancun, renting a room in a hotel in the Zona Hotelera or in Playa del Carmen, if you dreamed of living in a house with a pool on the beach. Cost of a hotel room or villa in good hotel starts from 100 USD, in total, you should expect a budget of about 700 USD for a week-long vacation for two for housing.

For surfers, the best spot would be the town of Playa Escondido, because it has beaches for professionals with high waves (Zicatela, best waves in July) and plenty for beginners.
