Unknown places. Wulingyuan in China

17.02.2022

My personal rating of unusual places on our planet. We are not talking about beauty, although many of the places considered are not without such a quality, namely, about unusualness and even strangeness. This list includes places, bumping into which, when searching on the Internet, it was difficult to resist the exclamation: “Wow! And there is such a thing on our planet!”

Places are sorted in ascending order of the “Wow factor”, that is, starting with the simply interesting, continuing with the unusual, and ending with very strange, even fantastic, unearthly landscapes (although this gradation is very arbitrary).

Unusual places on our planet.

Let's start with a trip to the "Edge of the World" ..

It is located near the town of Skagen in Denmark, as the locals called the junction of the North and Baltic Seas:
This is the confluence of two currents of different composition and density, which for some reason do not mix, but form a clear boundary. It turns out beautifully and mysteriously, but in my opinion it looks more like not the "End of the World", but some kind of "Border between Worlds".

Entrance to the underwater kingdom.

This is the "Great Blue Hole", which is located in the Caribbean Sea near the Yucatan Peninsula. Its diameter is 305 meters, the depth is about 120-140 m:
Once this hole in the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean was an ordinary "land" cave, in which the "roof" collapsed, and then it was flooded by the waters of the oceans that rose after the end of the Ice Age. This is the largest hole of its kind on our planet. After Jacques Cousteau featured it in his film, it became the most popular diving site in the world.

Inverted sky.

Natural mirror area of 10 thousand square meters. m.
This is a dry lake in Bolivia, it is called "Uyuni Salt Flats". Such a fantastic effect of a giant mirror occurs during the rainy season, when water covers the surface of the salt marsh with a thin layer. The rest of the time the lake looks like this:

Crooked forest.

Forest with crooked trees in Poland.
This forest was planted in the 30s of the last century. Virtually all of its 400 trees have a synchronous bend to one side. There is no exact scientific explanation for this phenomenon, but the most plausible version sounds like this:

..As you know, in ancient times furniture with smooth curves and crooked legs was in fashion. In general, curved wooden parts were used everywhere, for example, sleigh runners, details of boats, ships, etc. Usually, wood was bent already in the production process, but here, in the area of the Polish village of Gryfino, we see the result of an experiment on the production of a pre-curved wood.

But, the Second World War prevented this ambitious commercial project from being realized - the village was destroyed, young "slender" pines were abandoned. But now, in Poland, which is rather poor in sights, there is such a strange forest, protected by the state as a nature reserve.

Valley of love.

These rocks definitely resemble something.. hence the name of the valley, which is located in Cappadocia (Turkey). But not only the Valley of Love, but the rest of Cappadocia is a place with a very unusual "mushroom relief".
Such a relief is a consequence of powerful eruptions that took place here in prehistoric times, after which wind and water took over, which, over millions of years, together created these pillars with caps.
Then, several thousand years ago, people set to work and created here cave dwellings and entire cave-underground cities, going to a depth of up to 80 meters.

In total, there are about 40 cave cities in Cappadocia, in which up to 30,000 people once lived.

Scuba diving in the park.

Agree, very unusual place for diving - swim among the alleys, benches and trees:
There is such a park in Austria. It is located near a clean mountain lake, and for most of the year it is an ordinary park. But in summer, when the snow melts in the mountains, the water level in the lake rises by several meters, turning the surrounding area into an attraction for divers.

I think that scuba divers experience very strange sensations while swimming in this lake, it probably looks like flying in weightlessness or in a dream, because instead of the usual deep landscape, they see an ordinary park underwater.

Another proof of the wisdom of nature. Look at what beauty she turned an ordinary trash can:

50 years ago, this place on the coast of the Gulf of California was a large dump of household waste. But somewhere in the 60s, it was forbidden to throw garbage here, the main rubbish was taken out, but the broken glass remained .. And nature, as usual, worked a miracle!

Welcome to Glass Beach California!

Happy Island.

This is the name of the island , more precisely an archipelago of four islands in the Indian Ocean, a few hundred kilometers from the coast of Somalia and Yemen. The unusualness of this island is that for several million years it has been isolated from the rest of the earth, thanks to which many ancient plants and animals have been preserved here in their original form.

Once here, you will be transported into the past of the Earth by about 10-20 million years. Everything is as it was then, only dinosaurs are missing:

We continue the review..

It turns out there is such a miracle on our Earth! This country, or rather a city, is located in China.

This place was created to attract tourists. "Little people" live here, arrange performances for tourists, and in general, make money on tourists as best they can. Therefore, many Chinese dwarfs have a chance to find work and shelter in "Country of the Lilliputians".

Arizona, 240 km from the famous Grand Canyon. Fantastic, surreal beauty, especially when the rays of the sun enter during the day:
or the moon at night:
The place where Antelope Canyon is located belongs to the Navajo Indians, so to get here, you need to negotiate with them ($) and hire a guide.

If you suddenly decide to go there, be careful in rainy weather - even if it rains somewhere nearby, the canyon can fill up with water very quickly and almost silently. Thus, in 1997, 11 tourists died here.

Wave.

Arizona Wave (The Wave) - another miracle of nature:

They say nature is the best artist, in this case we see her work in the style of "surrealism".

This place, as well as Antelope Canyon, is located near the Grand Canyon Park. The surface of the “Wave”, despite the fact that it was formed under the influence of rain and wind for millions of years, is rather fragile in places, so large crowds of tourists are not allowed here. The maximum is 20 people a day, and tickets here are raffled off like a lottery, so it’s not easy to see this beauty with your own eyes.

But you can see the photo or video:

These multi-colored rocks are located in the geological park of the Chinese province of Gansu, and there are no other hills of the same type anywhere else in the world.

Hundreds of millions of years ago, this area was the bottom of the sea. But, as often happened in those geologically active times, the sea became dry land, and the silt deposits dried up and oxidized. Naturally, it was not without the participation of water and wind, which washed out and blew out various layers of sedimentary rocks, of different colors and shades.

Now it is a unique place of its kind that attracts tourists from all over the world. Convenient paths have been built here for them and viewing platforms. Another curious fact is that once the famous Silk Road ran through this area.

The strangest place in the world.

This may be a very loud headline, but if not this strange place, then what!?!

Of course, these toys were never alive, but according to the terrible impression that the discarded dolls hung on the trees make, such a definition is quite suitable for this place:

The Island of the Dolls is located in Mexico, not far from Mexico City, among the canals of Xochimilco overgrown with reeds and shrubs. Of course, there is a legend that explains what happened here:

In the middle of the last century, a man named Don Julian Santana Barrera lived in these places. He was gloomy in temperament, liked to drink a lot, and was not quite friendly with his head, which is why those around him did not like him. At some point, his roof went completely, and this happened on religious grounds. With his delusional sermons, he annoyed the neighbors so much that they began to beat him periodically.

Because of all this, Don Julian decided to get away from the bustle of the world, chose a wild island among the canals of Xochimilco, began to grow vegetables there and fish for lunch. He was alone on a desert island, just like Robinson Crusoe. Rejected by society, he felt an all-consuming loneliness and hatred for the whole world.

One day, Don Julian found a doll on the island. He knew that not so long ago, a girl drowned somewhere nearby - most likely it was her doll! As a religious man, Don Julian believed that the girl's soul still wanders here without finding rest, and for his personal safety he needs to somehow win her over. Since then, occasionally visiting the city, he collected discarded dolls from the garbage dumps and brought them to the island as a gift to the spirit of the deceased girl.

..As the years passed, there were more and more dolls, and more and more Don Julian survived out of his mind - the mania of collecting dolls took possession of his consciousness completely and completely. He became obsessed with dolls, they completely replaced his society and human communication. Now he was not alone - he lived a full life surrounded by friends, girlfriends, neighbors, acquaintances .. and enemies. He treated his friends in a friendly way - he courted them, shared shelter with them, and they kept him company on long dull evenings.

But Don Julian did not have many friends, for the most part he was surrounded by enemies. And with the enemies of Don Julian Santana Barrera was cruel! He carried out executions over them like a medieval inquisitor cracking down on heretics, and then hung them from the "corpse" on trees, mainly around the perimeter of the island, in order to frighten evil spirits and intruders.

This is how this strange and mysterious man lived on his island, Robinon Crusoe of the 20th century. But one day, when his nephew, the only living person who occasionally visited him and brought him food, once again sailed to the island - Don Julian was no longer here. It looks like he drowned in the canal, as did the girl whose doll became the first inhabitant. "Islands of the Dead Dolls"

Here is such a legend .. I apologize if I caught up with horror at the end of the post. I fantasized a little based on what I found on the Internet about this strange island .. just to make it more interesting.

IN South America there are still many tribes cut off from the outside world. In the Vale do Yavari reservation alone, or the Javari Valley, there are more than a dozen of them. Their way of life and way of life is not yet fully understood.

This area, comparable in area to Portugal, is generally one of the most isolated places not only in South America, but also in the world.

It's hard to imagine what else can be found in these rain forests on the border with Peru. The Javari Valley is guarded by a special government agency, so getting there is not easy.

Man conquered the mountains, landed on the moon. But the resources of the world's oceans have not yet been studied. Therefore, it is the expanses of water that attract researchers from all over the world.

One such unexplored area is Mariana Trench. It is located in the west Pacific Ocean, between the islands of Japan and Australia. According to recent estimates, it has a depth of almost 11 kilometers, so it is at least difficult to explore it. This does not mean that people have not tried. For example, director James Cameron became the third person to hit the bottom of the Challenger Abyss. He took rock samples and made surveys using modern cameras.

Created by nature itself millions of years ago, it still keeps secrets. Perhaps it is there that we will find not only new forms of life, but also a whole underwater world, cut off from civilization.

Caves are another hard-to-reach place for research. They are often difficult to access, sometimes even dangerous, and are located in remote mountain ranges and regions across the planet.

The Yucatan Cenotes are one such example of unexplored caves. This is a fairly large cave network in Mexico, which combines eight of the most famous original wells (cenotes). Their stunning snow and ice caves are too dangerous even for experienced craftsmen.

Interestingly, cenotes were once used by the ancient Mayans for sacrifices.

There are mysterious and unexplored places on the territory of our vast Motherland.

The Republic of Sakha is a huge piece of Russia, accounting for about a fifth of our territory. For comparison, this is the size of India. But due to severe weather conditions, most of the traffic is carried water view transport.

It is because of the extreme climate that much of this area remains unexplored. For example, in January the temperature can drop to -43 degrees Celsius. It is so cold here in places that most of the land is covered with permafrost.

Since much of this is untouched by man, you will find beautiful natural places such as the Lena River Delta.

If there is a place on Earth where it will definitely be difficult to establish a civilization, then this is Antarctica.

The cold, barren and mostly uninhabited continent is literally the coldest place on the planet. The lowest recorded temperature on the planet (-89 degrees Celsius) was recorded in Antarctica. Heavy snow, dangerous cracks and glaciers also complicate colonization. Until now, on the territory of this frosty continent, the main reasons for the appearance of man are scientific research and fishing.

Given the dangerous climate and unsafe natural features of its landscape, Antarctica remains and is likely to remain one of the least explored places on the planet. At least in the coming decades.

Despite being the largest island on the planet, Greenland is still largely unexplored.

Many do not even realize how big Greenland is. This is over 2 million square kilometers. Of these, approximately 80 percent are covered with ice. The ice is incredibly thick, reaching up to 3,000 m in some areas. The ice sheets that cover most of the island are also very old - between 400,000 and 800,000 years old.

The population here is mainly engaged in hunting and fishing in those areas that can be reached.

It's no surprise that such a sparsely populated region is filled with pristine natural wonders - hot springs, northern lights, and even ice-filled rivers.

Patagonia is a geographical region in South America belonging to Argentina and Chile. But it is the Northern part that is the least populated and unexplored.

There is a wild landscape all around, there are places where there is still no way to get by transport. Here nature is largely untouched - there is a massive rainforest, many peaks, steppes, lakes, rivers, glaciers and other natural wonders. And the huge ice mass called the Northern Patagonian Icefield is one of the largest outside the polar regions.

Only the most daring travelers go to this region. But if you dare to venture into this unexplored area, the scenery and nature will blow your mind.

These forests, like many others, are still fraught with not only the wild world of flora and fauna, but also the dangers that await at every step.

The area of this territory is estimated at 5.5 million km2 and contains almost half of the entire tropical forest in the world. Due to their size, many of them have not yet been studied. In the Amazon, it rains all year round, leading to flooding. This in turn makes it difficult to cross the river. The impenetrable jungle also played a role in the development of the area.

It may be a good thing that the Amazon rainforest is largely undeveloped - there are a number of deadly animals, from poisonous frogs and piranhas to anacondas.

People in general have never sought to explore the deserts because of their remoteness and extreme climate. But it is the Namib Desert, located in the southern part of Namibia, that is one of the most unexplored deserts in the world.

In small areas with a total area of 100,000 km2, diamond deposits have been found, which attracts the population. Most of it lives in the northern part of the country, leaving the southern part completely empty.

Scientists believe that the Namib is the oldest desert in the world. The absence of civilization can be guessed from the name, because in the Nama language "Namib" means "a place where there is nothing."

In Papua New Guinea you can find "Star Mountains" - mountain range, stretching from the Indonesian border to the Hindenberg Range. This natural wonder of the world is rich in its ecosystems and natural species.

The rain here is plentiful, over 10,000 mm per year, and is considered to be one of the wettest places on the planet.

Unconquered today, this place, for sure, will be of interest to researchers in the near future. After all, one of the biological surveys showed the presence of at least 100 species of plants and animals that have not yet been discovered.

Through the power of his intellect, man has been able to discover many of the Earth's secrets. In addition, man visited the surface of the moon and learned other planets of the solar system. However, some mysterious places still remain on planet Earth. severe weather and the destructive forces of nature - that's what prevents people from exploring some areas. At the same time, these same forces of nature help protect places, unique in their pristine beauty, from human interference. So the rating the most mysterious unexplored places on earth.

7. Greenland Ice Sheet

Greenland is the largest island on the planet. Much of this island is covered by an ice sheet, which is what makes the island so uninhabitable and little explored. Greenland's ice sheets are 3,200 meters thick and 100,000 years old. Also in Greenland there are glaciers, rivers formed from the melting of ice, hot springs. In addition, there you can watch the most beautiful white nights and northern lights, but due to unstable weather conditions, Greenland remains one of the most underexplored places in the world.

6. Mariana Trench

The Mariana Trench is located in the deepest part of the planet, in the western Pacific Ocean. The depression was formed millions of years ago due to the occurrence of a tectonic plate fault in the ocean. The deepest point of the Mariana Trench, known as the "Challenger Abyss" is at a depth of 11 kilometers. Such depth and high pressure in the cavity make it dangerous place for the people who study it. At the same time, the Mariana Trench is home to deep sea organisms and rare minerals. The bottom of the depression contains fossils dating back millions of years and other rocks, the study of which can help reveal many of the secrets of the Earth. However, exploration of the Mariana Trench proves to be very difficult due to the dangerous conditions.

5. Kankar Punsum

Kankar Punsum is the highest unclimbed peak in the world, located in Bhutan. The height of this mountain is 7570 meters, which provides it with a place among 40 highest mountains planets. There are only four known attempts to climb Kankar-Punsum in 1983, 1985, 1986 and 1994. But all these attempts were unsuccessful due to heavy snowfall and severe weather conditions. Out of respect for local beliefs, the government of Bhutan banned climbing Kankar Punsum in 2004. Thus, this peak remained completely unexplored.

4. Deserts

Everyone knows that deserts are one of the least explored areas due to unbearable weather conditions. The Antarctic Desert is the largest area deprived of vegetation. The world's hottest desert is the Sahara in Africa. Deserts receive very little rainfall, and there are also large temperature fluctuations - the days are extremely hot, while the nights are very cold. Such weather conditions are almost unbearable for most animals, plants and people. The fourth line among the mysterious places.

3. Deep caves

There are many caves scattered across the Earth. Their exploration is a great difficulty due to difficult weather conditions, rocky terrain, acidic environment and the complexity of the descent. Some underwater caves have conditions so unacceptable for life that even marine inhabitants do not live in them. The flooded Yucatan Cenotes in Mexico are a good example of this. Ice and crystal caves are also too dangerous for research due to their unpredictability.

2. Amazonian jungle

The Amazon jungle makes up half of the world's rainforests and covers an area of 5.5 million square kilometers. The wide variety of species and the habitat of rare animals in the forests make the Amazonian jungle an interesting field for research. Despite this, the Amazonian jungle remains one of the most unexplored corners of the planet. In this area, it rains all year round, and showers lasting from February to May contribute to a strong rise in the water level in the Amazon and flooding of nearby areas. Thus, crossing the turbulent course of the Amazon River also turns out to be a serious obstacle in the way of researchers. In addition, the Amazonian jungle is inhabited by extremely dangerous representatives of the animal world: jaguars, rattlesnakes, poisonous spiders and frogs, mosquitoes, piranhas, alligators and huge anacondas. In addition to all the above obstacles to exploration, the Amazon Jungle has limited access to safe food and clean water for humans.

1. Antarctica

The most mysterious unexplored place on the planet. In addition to being the coldest place on the Earth's surface, Antarctica also experiences huge temperature fluctuations: from -10C° to -30C° in one day. The temperature minimum recorded in Antarctica is -89C°. The harshest climate makes Antarctica the most unexplored area in the world. The maximum wind speed of 200 mph in Antarctica was recorded in 1972. Layers of ice 2 miles thick, heavy snowfalls, glaciers and deep crevices pose a serious danger to explorers.

Not many people manage to travel most countries in their lives, visit most peaks, see different seas and oceans. But even those who are lucky enough to dedicate their lives to travel cannot reach such mysterious corners. Even for scientists, these mysterious places on the planet remain mostly a mystery!

Mulu, Borneo

This place is known for the world's largest cave system, of which only 10% have been explored by man. They are easy to reach, you can safely take the train to Mulu. But not to get lost at the beginning of the journey is difficult. Caves in the jungle are covered with secrets, and therefore even the most daring travelers do not want to risk their lives.

This shield occupies 80% of the territory of Greenland, and its thickness is about 3 kilometers. It is because of this that 80% of the country remains a complete mystery to all mankind. In 2014, scientists managed to make some progress and find out that something is under the ice: the bumps hidden under the shield indicate that there is something to study there, and the secrets that are hidden under the glacier can surprise us pretty much.

They are available for human study and expeditions of scientists are constantly conducted in these forests, but still this is one of the most unexplored territories due to its huge size. The Amazon tropics is the largest forest in the world. And its studied part is only the tip of the iceberg, and more than one unexpected discovery can await in the depths!

This area was studied for a long time by partisans and bandit groups that were hiding here from the authorities, so it's hard to say what they managed to see there. Robbers do not keep logbooks with records of the environment. Why did they choose the Northern Andes? The reasons are mountainous terrain, dense forests and fogs, routes unknown to other people.

Yet expeditions of scientists also began to go to the Andes. But not in order to find out the secrets of the bandits, but to study the nature of this area. Over the past 12 years, at least several previously unknown species of animals, birds and plants have been identified.

The Mariana Trench remains the most mysterious and unexplored place in the underwater world of our planet. Its deepest place is called "Challenger Abyss". Its depth is more than 11 thousand meters! It is in this hollow that the monkfish lives, as well as a lot of other amazing creatures, accustomed to enormous pressure and temperature extremes. This is the most unexplored place on Earth, because absolutely no one knows what and who is at the very bottom.

Would you like to know the secrets of these unexplored places?

Victoria Demidyuk

The world today seems much smaller than it used to be. Globalization, improved means of communication, the Internet, have led to the fact that almost every corner of the globe has become accessible to man. But in the farthest corners of our planet, a few more godforsaken places have been preserved where no human foot has set foot. Most of them are extremely dangerous, but this does not mean that they are deserted. By the way, every year from 17 to 18 thousand new species are discovered by scientists since the end of World War II. According to some estimates, humanity still has to discover about 10 million new species before it can claim to have explored absolutely everything on Earth. Below you will find a list of 12 places on our planet that are still shrouded in mystery.

12. Gangkhar Puensum

Mount Gangkhar Puensum, 7570 meters high, is located on the border of Bhutan and China. She is considered the most high mountain in a world that no one has yet climbed. However, Gangkhar Puensum is not the explorer's paradise you might think. The mountain is unexplored for the reason that it is considered illegal to practice any form of mountaineering on it. Moreover, any mountain over 6,000 meters in Bhutan is considered the home of holy spirits, and those who get injured or trapped there can not hope to get help from local residents. The ban on climbing Mount Gangkhar Puensum has been in place for twenty years, and there are no plans to lift it.

11. Mulu, Borneo

Gunung Mulu boasts the largest cave system in the world, moreover, only 10% of them have been explored. Compared to most of the places on our list, Mulu is fairly easy to get to with daily flights, boats on the river, or on foot. Despite the relative ease of getting there, you will have to work hard not to get lost there, as most of the caves and jungles remain shrouded in a veil of secrets.

10. Namibia

Namibia is the most sparsely populated country in Africa. This is the only place on our list that includes the desert. The Kalahari Desert stretches through Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. Much of Namibia, especially the Kalahari, remains unexplored. Here, every explorer will find something interesting for himself, from amazing animals to incredible landscapes. In addition, Namibia became the first country on Earth to take the protection of environment by introducing relevant clauses into the Constitution of the country. About 15% of the country's land is legally protected, which guarantees its purity and inviolability for the hands of those who are hungry for profit.

9. Greenland Ice Sheet

The Greenland Ice Sheet covers nearly 80% of Greenland and is over 3 kilometers thick. Only the Antarctic Ice Sheet is bigger than it. As you might guess, it follows that he hides a sea of uncharted lands. In June 2014, scientists discovered a completely " new world”, Hidden from human eyes under the ice cap. They were shocked to find various irregularities and curvatures under the smooth ice surface. This once again proves that Greenland is fraught with much more than we think.

8. Kamchatka, Russia

Siberia, located in the north of Russia, is famous for its frosts. And although it makes up all 77% of the country's territory, only 27% of the total population is concentrated in this region. And although this entire zone has been little studied, its most mysterious area is the Kamchatka Peninsula, located in the northeast of Siberia. Only 300,000 people live here. The peninsula itself is teeming with geological wonders, including volcanoes, geysers, and amazing coves. The reasons for its little-studied are remoteness and harsh winters.

7. Amazon rainforest

The Amazon rainforest remains largely unexplored due to its sheer size: spanning nine countries and covering an area of 5,500,000 square kilometers, it is considered the largest forest in the world. 10% of the species of our planet are concentrated in the Amazon forests, but scientists believe that most of them have yet to be discovered.

6. Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is not only one of the most unexplored places on the planet, but also one of the most at risk of being destroyed. It would be logical to study it while we still can. The reef faces a number of serious threats, such as the greenhouse effect and the warming of the oceans, as well as the irresponsibility of people. More than 900 islands and 2,500 reefs lie within its boundaries, which promises a huge field for research. Here, new species of animals are discovered every now and then, which proves how little we know about the ocean.

5. Papua New Guinea

Like most of the territory barrier reef, Papua New Guinea is also a great place for explorers. Despite the fact that several tribes live here, to a greater extent this is an absolutely unexplored territory. The dense vegetation here makes it incredibly difficult to trek through the jungle, and the lack of paved roads and limited infrastructure mean few tourists. Roughly speaking, about 2/3 of all types papua new guinea are endemic, which feeds the special desire of scientists to study this corner.

4. Myanmar

Myanmar, also known as Burma, has quite a lot of unexplored territory, despite the fact that a number of expeditions have been sent here over the past few years. The dangerous political situation in the country that has persisted for the past 50 years has been the main reason for the absence of tourists and scientists here, but since 2011 its borders have again become open to the public. Myanmar boasts 135 ethnic groups inhabiting its territory, rich history and culture, as well as rare animal species.

3. Rainforests of the Congo

And although the Amazon jungle is much larger, the rainforests of the Congo are much less explored. The Congo Basin, which covers as much as 15% of the entire territory of Africa, serves as an enticing place for both locals and foreigners. Local tribes tell legends about dinosaur-like creatures sneaking through the thickets of the Congo, and visiting tourists are interested in the tribes themselves, among which the Bantu people make up the majority. The first exploration of this region dates back to 1876, when Henry Morton Stanley spent three years in the local forests, walking more than 9,000 kilometers, but even despite his travels, this area still remains a mystery.

2. Lake Vostok, Antarctica

Antarctica remains a mystery even in the 21st century. Most of the expeditions heading here depart from Tierra del Fuego in Argentina (one of the country's southernmost points). One of the most intriguing places in Antarctica is Lake Vostok. Located in the east of the continent, this lake was covered with ice about 15-25 million years ago, making it an excellent source of fossils from that era. And although the lake itself was discovered in 1993, it has not yet been fully explored.

1. Mariana Trench

While we know almost nothing about the oceans, the Mariana Trench is even more mysterious place. Its deepest point is the "Challenger Abyss", the depth of which reaches 11 thousand meters. It is home to strange and unique creatures, accustomed to enormous water pressure and extreme temperatures, such as monkfish. This place is the most unexplored on our planet.
