In the middle of the 19th century, it became a place of prayer and solitude for Metropolitan Philaret (Drozdov). In the main temple of the skete in honor of the Chernigov Icon of the Mother of God, the relics of the locally revered St. Barnabas (Merkulov) - one of the famous elders, folk confessors of the late XIX - early XX centuries.
