Review compiled by Olga Morozova

Our compatriots get to the Czech Republic and back by various means of transport. But perhaps the most profitable and fastest flight is one carried out by a budget airline that offers travel at affordable prices. Saving on a ticket is the main incentive for tourists to use a low-cost airline.

You can fly directly from/to Prague using the Czech air carrier Smart Wings. Daily air flights are made from Sheremetyevo airport to airport "" and back. The non-stop flight lasting two and a half hours is carried out on a Boeing 737-800.

Smart Wings has recently competed with Russian low-cost airlines under the names Red Wings and Pobeda. The first offers regular flights Moscow (St. Petersburg) -, the second operates on the Moscow - route.

Review of other low-cost airlines to the Czech Republic

There are always plenty of people wishing to take a cheap flight from and to the capital of the Czech Republic, and therefore there are often not enough tickets for everyone. As an alternative, the services of foreign carriers are used, delivering to the transshipment airport, from there you can get to your destination by any other type of transport. Consider these opportunities to reach your goal without going broke:

  • The Scandinavian low-cost company Norwegian delivers directly to Prague for a ticket costing about 50 euros or more. Departure from Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm or Helsinki. All conditions apply in reverse;
  • Wizz Air (Hungary) flies passengers from Prague to Italy (Milan, Venice, Rome) or Israel (Tel Aviv). The trip to Milan will cost 20 euros, to Venice and Tel Aviv a little more. Everything is exactly the same when moving in the opposite direction;
  • EasyJet (UK) offers flights to Prague from Milan or Rome and back for €20 or slightly more;
  • The German low-cost company Germanwings provides the widest choice of flight routes to and from the capital of the Czech Republic throughout almost all of Europe. For Russians, the most profitable direction is Prague - Warsaw. A flight from/to Cologne, Dusseldorf or Hamburg will cost a little more - only 30 euros, then by train or bus;
  • Transavia (Netherlands) operates flights on the routes: Paris - Prague (Prague - Paris), Rotterdam - Prague (Prague - Rotterdam) costing from 30 euros.

In addition, there are options to fly with a low-cost airline not only to or from Prague, but also to other cities in the Czech Republic:

  • Wizz Air offers flights from Brno and to it through Poland and Germany, special attention should be paid to the Polish Katowice with its many flights to European cities, Tel Aviv and Kutaisi;
  • EasyJet operates flights from Prague to Dresden, Berlin, Basel;
  • Germanwings will transport you from St. Petersburg or Moscow to Nuremberg, Dresden, Vienna, and from there it’s a stone’s throw to Prague!

As can be seen from this brief overview, there are plenty of low-cost airlines flying from and to the Czech Republic. It’s important to make your choice and hit the road!

Full review low-cost airlines flying to Prague. Find out how to fly cheaply to and from the Czech Republic throughout Europe.

Let's first consider which cities the main European low-cost airlines fly from to Prague, and then we will additionally study alternative flight options - find out which other Czech and neighboring (Polish, German) cities you can fly to on flights of low-cost airlines.

You may find it useful to read about flights from Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian cities, as well as flights from Russian cities on board traditional airlines.

Ryanair

The Irish low-cost airline operates very few flights to Prague: only from Dublin, London And Brussels. As you can see, there is nothing close to the Russian border - therefore, flying from Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, Kaunas and Lappeenranta will have to make transfers in other European cities.

This low-cost airline has the lowest price among these destinations, usually for flights to Brussels - from 20 euros.

Read below about other Czech cities (as well as nearby cities in neighboring countries) where Ryanair flies - the situation there is a little better.

Wizz Air

The route network for Prague of the Hungarian low-cost airline is much more interesting: from the Czech capital you can fly to Milan, Venice, Rome, Naples, Bari, London and even Tel Aviv. As you can see, Italian destinations predominate, but Eastern Europe, the Baltic countries and Finland are again completely absent.

Ticket prices to Milan - from 20 euros, Venice and London - from 28 euros.

EasyJet

This low-cost airline flies to Prague from many UK cities, as well as from Milan, Rome, Amsterdam and Paris(). Prices from 20 euros.

Flight map to Prague - EasyJet

This is where you can have fun! This low-cost airline flying to Prague has an amazing selection of flight routes to or from the Czech capital throughout Europe and beyond! There is no point in listing them, just look at the flight map.

Flight map to Prague - Germanwings

True, again there is not a single city that would be convenient for Russians, Belarusians and residents of the Baltic countries. The easternmost city from which Germanwings flies to Prague is Warsaw. But this one low-cost airline flies to St. Petersburg and Moscow, which allows you to fly from them to one of the cities in neighboring countries of the Czech Republic, and cover the rest of the journey by land transport. Read more about these routes below.

This airline has the lowest prices for flights from/to Prague for the cities of Germany: Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hamburg - tickets for these flights can be purchased from 30 euros.

jet2

This budget airline, unfortunately, flies to Prague only from UK cities (Glasgow, Belfast, Newcastle and others). Nothing interesting for us.

Transavia

This European low-cost airline flies to Prague from only two cities: Paris (Orly) and Dutch Rotterdam. Prices start from 30 euros.

Norwegian

This airline operates direct flights to Prague from the following cities: Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Bergen and Copenhagen. Prices in the screenshot (in euros, one-way tickets):

Prices for flights to Prague - Norwegian

Low-cost airlines in the Czech Republic (other cities)

Here I will list which other cities in the Czech Republic low-cost airlines fly to. In addition to the Czech ones, we will also consider neighboring Polish and German cities.

Wizz Air

From a Czech city Brno(Brno) Wizz Air flies to only two other cities: London and the Netherlands Endhoven.

But the Hungarian low-cost airline has a more extensive network of flights for some nearby cities in Poland and Germany, which can be reached quite quickly from Prague by buses and trains.

I recommend paying special attention to the Polish city Katowice: Wizz Air operates many flights to this city; you can fly to almost any point in Europe on a budget, as well as fly to Israel (Tel Aviv) and Georgia (Kutaisi).

Flight map to Katowice - Wizz Air

Ryanair

This low-cost airline also flies from two other cities in the Czech Republic: from Brno and Ostrava, but alas, only in one direction - to London.

Not so far from Prague is the Polish city of Wroclaw, from which (or to which) on board Ryanair you can fly to Oslo, Malta, many UK cities, Crete, Barcelona, Malaga, Alicante, Rome, Milan, Bologna, Paris, as well as Warsaw and Gdansk.

EasyJet

Of the cities closest to Prague, this low-cost airline flies to Dresden (one flight to Basel). If we consider slightly more distant cities, then Berlin is of interest - from this city EasyJet flies to dozens of destinations: you can fly to a variety of cities in Western, Central, Southern Europe, as well as to Morocco, Israel, Cyprus and the Canary Islands.

With Germanwings you can fly directly from St. Petersburg or Moscow to Nuremberg, Dresden or Vienna, and from there you can travel to Prague by train or bus (read, and vice versa by train or bus). Alas, this low-cost airline does not fly to Prague directly from Moscow or St. Petersburg, but on the other hand, it’s nice that at least there are flights to these cities in Germany.

However, whether such a route makes sense can only be determined by comparing the prices for these flights, coupled with the costs of ground transportation, with the cost of a flight to Prague from Moscow or St. Petersburg on board other airlines.

Video about Prague:

Introductory image source: jaime.silva / flickr.com.

Flying from Moscow to Prague is very easy. Every day in winter and summer, a dozen flights from several airlines will take anyone to the capital of the Czech Republic. Less than three hours in the air goes by very quickly. You don't always have time to finish watching a movie on your tablet. The main carriers on the route are Aeroflot, Czech airlines and Smart Wings, which is most often signed under the name of its parent airline, Travel Service airlines. We'll talk about it today.

Smart Wings positions itself as a cheap carrier, consider it a low-cost airline, but in some places it pleasantly surprises. And in some places it ruins the life of the passenger.

1. Departures of all airlines to Prague are carried out from Sheremetyevo Airport. Our plane was supposed to pick us up at Terminal F, and the flight was expected to be combined with Czech Airlines.

2. In the beginning, I will start from the end. Our trip to Prague was great, but the final destination was terrible. Upon returning from Prague to Moscow, even as we got off the plane, we noticed the beginning of work with our luggage. We were delighted. that you won't have to wait long. We go to passport control, and it always takes a long time in Moscow. We were one of the first to go through, went to get our luggage, and even saw the first few suitcases already on the conveyor belt! Great! We are waiting for the rest. We waited 5 minutes, 10, 20... All passport control counters cleared and an almost full Boeing 737-800 plane (about 160-170 people) stood around the tape. After a very long wait, the delivery began. My duffel bag with a shoulder strap ended up with the strap torn off. It was clearly dug into. The girl's suitcase was closed, but after checking the house it turned out that something was missing from it. Of course, there were all the appeals, but no one cared. And it’s clear that most likely the thieves worked during this long period. There is no evidence, no return of things, the police, as always, don’t give a damn... Yes, I cannot prove that this happened in Sheremetyevo, but the facts make me think. It was no easier for those who sealed the bags. The film was simply torn.

3. This incident could have happened at any time to any passenger of any airline. He just proved to me that sealing it in film is pointless. Now let's move on to the airline itself. Unfortunately, our flight to Prague was slightly delayed. About 40 minutes late. Registration takes place in the classic way at the counter on a first-come, first-served basis. Aeroflot employees checked us in and the boarding gates were also Aeroflot's.

4. Smart Wings is a brand of Travel Service airlines, which is part of an even larger structure. On all airline ticket purchasing sites you may come across both the name Travel service and the name Smartwings. The aircraft fleet consists of Boeing 737 and Airbus 320.

5. Airplanes of different ages. There are older ones, there are newer ones. The economy class cabin is also standard. In the afternoon the flights to Prague were practically empty, and back in the morning almost full. Passengers who bought a Czech Airlines ticket flew under the same conditions, although their ticket was more expensive.

6-7. The company does not shout anywhere that it is a low-cost airline, but a number of sites indicate just that. The lowest cost of the flight justifies the lack of free food and drinks. You can see the menu and price tag below. Multiple currencies - saving on printing. Travel Service has several small subsidiary airlines in Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. A two and a half hour flight plus arrival and departure procedures can be completed without food.

8. Arrival at Vailav Havel Airport. Next door was a Norwegian “bird” with a red beak and a portrait of a lady unknown to me.

9. In Prague, the departure and arrival zones are the same. First, passengers pass through an area with cafes and duty-free shops.

10. Then they enter the passport control area. There is nothing special here: Europeans are to the right, the rest are to the left.

11. Even though our plane arrived almost empty, we had to wait in line. Prague is not far from Moscow. There are not enough employees at the workplace.

12. But the baggage claim went perfectly. While we were under control. everything has already been uploaded to the tape.

13. Next, a simple, bright and pleasant-looking arrival hall awaited us. If you immediately need to purchase a local bus ticket, you can use two options. The first one is to buy it on the street from a machine (accepts only Czech coins) or at the cash desk in the transition between terminals 1 and 2. There you can purchase absolutely any ticket and pay by card.

14. The departure hall is located next to the arrivals. Here, too, everything is like in Russia. A large curved line to check in your luggage and get your boarding ticket.

15. There is a large queue nearby at the exchange office and at the Tax free counter.

16. And now what you would already like to know. Travel Service - Smartwings baggage allowance. This is the biggest surprise! Each passenger of each flight has the right to carry 5 kg of hand luggage and 15 kg of baggage free of charge. For free! Yes, this is not a joke. We had luggage and didn't pay for it.

17. We went into a clean area and immediately saw an OK-TSH Boeing 737-800 aircraft suitable for us. 16 years. It turned out to be not ours.

18. It is absolutely impossible to get lost at Prague airport. All gates are numbered, but remember: passengers are screened before boarding the flight after the duty-free zone! So first shopping, and then through the frames.

19. It’s very convenient to photograph airplanes at the airport. and if you like spotting, know an interesting fact. There are several official spotting points around the airport where absolutely anyone can shoot.

20. Boarding the buses that took us to our Boeing OK-TVO took a very long time. I understood the reason for the delay of the plane: for some reason, several buses are sent to the plane at once in one column. Therefore, we first waited for everyone going through security, then drove to the parking lot. Then we stood in line to enter for a very long time.

21. You can have time to photograph the plane. He has a beautiful unique livery dedicated to the Moravian-Silesian region. This is the east of the country, the city of Ostrava and the surrounding area. This plane belongs to Travel Service and does not have any airline markings. And again passengers with more expensive Czech Airlines tickets boarded with us.

22. While we were standing in line, I managed to photograph the airport from several angles. Vaclav Havel Airport is the country's main air gateway. Sometimes you can find the name Prague-Ruzyne. This is what this airport was originally called. The old terminal and one of the old runways are located in another part of the complex.

23. There are now two connected terminals. One for intra-Schengen flights, the other for extra-Schengen flights. A Yakutia Airlines plane is parked.

24. Another Smart Wings is visible in the distance. Travel Service has a total of 19 aircraft.

25. The livery is still beautiful when it shows the region. It's a pity that the photos are only above and behind the wing. so you could see something new for yourself upon entering.

26. The bottom line is this: if it weren’t for the situation upon arrival at Sheremetyevo, I would call this round-trip flight excellent. Of course, with the caveat that there is no food and the plane is not new. But I knew what I was getting into. Now you know this too.

27. Happy journey everyone!
