Holidays are not for Russians.
We vacationed in April with a 2-year-old child and friends. I will immediately write the conclusion that we made thanks to this hotel - we will not come to Egypt again! This was not the first time we were in Egypt, our friends were even in Albatross, but in Hurghada, and were always ready to return to the most beautiful Red Sea, but, alas, not this time. I also wrote a review from there called “never come to this hotel”, which was miraculously deleted, so I want to correct “never come to this hotel IF YOU ARE RUSSIAN/BELARUSIAN/UKRAINIAN/KAZAKH” (choose yours).
Now, in order.
We were at the hotel at 8:00. We were immediately told that there was only one available room. One for two families. With shared toilet and shower. Naturally, we responded, since we have a small child. Then we were told to wait. In the reviews they wrote that it took a long time to check in. But we thought that we were the smartest, they say, we’ll pay extra on the spot and they’ll put us in good rooms right away. No guys, we are not the smartest. And the fact that we had a small child didn’t bother anyone either. And okay, we have two years, but the guys with one for four months and the second for about 4 years also sat with us and waited the same amount of time. They were settled no earlier than ours. And we checked in at 14:00. Stay at the reception for 6 hours. Eurostandard, gentlemen! However! We met Russian-speaking Germans there, who were settled within an hour. They were absolutely shocked by everything we told them and by the photographs of the room we got. And they explained that if they came across such a number, then the travel agency could refund them 50-100% of the tour cost. We, naive ones, exchanged a bunch of dollars in units in order to leave a tip, but the Germans don’t pay anything. From the word in general. At all. Their service is included in the tour. And when we approached the bar, everyone had eternal things to do. But let's get back to the numbers. I didn’t sit and wait until they gave us a room and went to the pool with the child. When I returned, I saw my husband and friends just blacker than a cloud. The rooms we were given were so tired that the vacated house in the village had better furniture. I didn’t see them, I can’t describe them, but while walking in the evening, they showed me where they are. There's a construction site behind the wall. Hammer drill, dust and noise almost around the clock. By the way, renovations are EVERYWHERE!! In the restaurant nearby they are renovating the toilet, with all the resulting odors, renewing the paint on the sidewalks, right under people’s windows, renovating the stage. You won’t be able to avoid the smell of paint no matter how much you want to. We never had any special requirements for our room, we are going to the SEA, and we need a room to spend the night and wash, but! For this tour, far from a small amount of money was paid and 5 stars were paid. But in fact it turned out to be 2*? 3*? Therefore, they began to swear and demand normal numbers! And in the end they give us 2 rooms on the 3rd floor. They say that with a stroller and a child it is not at all difficult to walk one floor, and then you can go and find a ramp for the stroller. There are pieces of plaster on the pillow in the room. And that’s why they took so long to move us in and KEEP OUT!! Once the holes in the walls were repaired, everything remained covered in dust and stones. But it turned out that we had almost a luxury. Our friends got it even worse. Persistent sewer smell! There is one socket and one light bulb in the room! There is no balcony. By the way, in these rooms we were all bitten by some living creature. Having received these numbers, we began to panic: call the tour operator and write the above-mentioned reviews. Then we made an appointment with a local representative of Tez Tour. They began to promise that TOMORROW you will have good numbers! Show pictures, But! They can't tell you the room number. 100% hotel occupancy. The next day, walking through the numbers began again. Again we are trying to snag rooms next to which are being renovated. And then suddenly appeared new option, when they realized that we would not agree and would continue to argue. They gave us really good rooms! On the ground floor, next to the swimming pool. Apparently, these rooms were reserved for some more desirable guest. There wasn't a single Russian in our neighborhood. Italians, Germans, but not Russians. We were immediately asked to delete the review. By the way, a couple of days later we got into trouble with the guys with a small child from the reception, they stayed on the 3rd floor in a terrible room, they just didn’t argue. And we lost two days of rest to get human conditions. Without bedbugs and with electricity. Every time we passed by the reception, some Russian was sure to swear about the room. Passing by the pool there is at least one conversation about changing rooms and angry tourists. And the representative of the Eliza Hotel said that it was a roulette game and there weren’t enough good rooms for all of them. Please take this into account. When you pay for 5*, it’s a roulette and you can get into 2*.
About the sea. The pier is long. There are a lot of reviews on this topic, nothing to add. Really long. The water was cold. On top of everything else, we were also unlucky with the weather. WINDY BAY!!! Even in a warm pool, the child did not want to swim, since the gusts of wind were quite strong and it was freezing. Nice water park. There are slides for absolutely every taste and age.
By the way, once a towel was stolen from a sun lounger by the pool, once from a sun lounger near the room!
What is truly beyond praise is the kitchen! Low bow to the chefs! Huge selection of food and everything is very tasty!!! But even here there were some adventures. And the story is not even about the fact that Germans/Italians in the restaurant are ABSOLUTELY FREE of charge. They are seated at tables, drinks and coffee are brought to them, the chefs greet them and know what to cook and with what ingredients. A story about the Food Court. One day my husband saw a picture of someone who was not Russian being made a pancake with filling. And then the containers with sausages, tomatoes and cheese move apart, the cook takes tuna for a portion of this pancake and carefully pushes everything back into place. When my husband asked what was going on, he received an explanation. “Children come running, grab the tuna with their hands and throw everything around.” Just so you understand. There in the vicinity of 30 cm, because... The pancake can be made sweet, there’s Nutella, powdered sugar and brown sugar, and the kids come running and grab the tuna!

We flew to Egypt for the second time, before that we had already vacationed in Rehana Sharm. This time I wanted a hotel of a higher category. I liked Moderna based on the brochures that the agency offered, and there were only 5 days left before the vacation, so there wasn’t much choice. The hotel has many positive aspects, but also a lot of pitfalls. Now to the objective. Beautiful territory, spacious reception, almost everything is new, there is a small water park, a huge pool and several smaller pools. Externally, the hotel looks like in the pictures. And then it began... the first proposed number turned out to be simply creepy. The worst thing is that the room did not have a balcony. The window looked out onto a construction site neighboring hotel, and plus two separate beds and no hot water. Even before our things were brought to us, we returned to the reception. The reception policy is football kicking. At first we were asked to wait, then they offered us to look at almost the next room without a balcony, but with hot water. In response to our request to find us a room with a balcony, since we smoke and we are not used to smoking in the room, we were again asked to wait. We waited another 45 minutes, after which we were finally given a room with a balcony not far from the water park. There were no complaints here, everything worked, a view of a couple of palm trees and a swimming pool. There was always hot water, the furniture and plumbing were in perfect order. We didn’t pay a penny for all our movements, but then we found out that many people immediately speeded up the process of checking into a good room with 10-20 dollars in their passport. As I already mentioned, the area was excellent, we liked the large swimming pool and the water park, there was plenty of space for swimming and sunbathing. The beach is also beautiful, clean and well-groomed, many palm trees, sunbeds at some distance from each other. But here the kilometer-long pontoon became a pitfall. At the beginning of our vacation there was a significant drop in temperature; a leisurely walk along this pontoon to the sun lounger was unrealistic. When it gets warmer, you can easily get sunburned on the road. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful reef, not super-duper, but something to see. We were pleased with the food. Despite the fact that every day there was almost the same set of dishes, thanks to the large selection, it was possible to choose something new. We liked the Italian restaurant, the oriental one was also ok. Service at the pools is different for Russians and Europeans. Tipping improves service and speeds up bartenders. In short, the bars are not fun, unenthusiastic and slow. The drinks are mediocre, mixed at random. We tried to drink only beer, the rest we bought at a beer store in Soho. The animation is normal, the guys work, they try, they constantly invited me to paid discos, we went once, I liked it. Near the hotel it’s boring, there are a couple of shops, if you go to the left you can find a cafe, but it’s still boring. We went once to Naama Bay and Soho. A taxi to Soho cost 7 dollars, to Naama - 10. We also visited Israel and Jordan, which we really liked, although it was terribly tiring. We ordered via weak Wi-Fi at the hotel reception at Red Sea Travel. We could have paid extra and gotten a better connection, but it suited us anyway. Overall the hotel is good, but not for lovers of the Red Sea, and the service needs to be improved, of course.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel until the moment we left, we were in a state of delight. Well, okay, I’m lying a little - at the time of departure we already really wanted to go home, but we still considered our hotel the best of those where we had been as a family over the past 10 years. It's not easy to satisfy a family of four completely different people - a dad (a lover of water slides “the higher the better”), a mother (a lover of an even tan, the open sea and gin and tonic), an eldest daughter (a fan of zanyrov and perfect rice) and a younger daughter (music, dancing , swimming pools and mashed potatoes with lula kebabs). But Royal Albatros Moderna didn't just leave us all satisfied - we were just happy. From the quick check-in at the reception, the clean pools, to the wild variety of food all day, the entertainment program - everything was great. I would also like to note the excellent condition of the plumbing in the room and the very hospitable attitude of the hotel staff. The ice cream man alone (from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) can make the entire children's section of the hotel fall in love with him. And there were a lot of children and teenagers. And they could all calmly communicate with the staff and always get what they wanted - be it unlimited juice or a food supplement or an extra cue in the billiard room. The entire staff speaks the most popular languages in the hotel very well - Russian, English, Arabic. Special thanks to the animation team headed by Geno (or Gino). And we are not talking about the fact that our couple from Kazakhstan won the guest competition on the evening show. I'm talking about a large range of services that this team provides - from morning workouts in the pool to children's activities in the Kids Club. We ran with our youngest daughter for face painting, despite the fact that by the evening it was washed off from water procedures. And the evening Mini Disco with a gathering of children from all the restaurants - this is what our Anita looked forward to every evening. Have a quick dinner and get ready for the animation team to arrive. Fabulous! By the way, we haven’t eaten such delicious pasta (spaghetti, penne, fusilli, fettuccine) even in Italy (may my Italian friends forgive me). Every evening we could not deny ourselves pasta, but the morning and lunch were given over to other delicious food - Arabic, Jewish, Asian, European, fast food - everything was at an incredibly tasty level. Miniature golf, lounge, soccer, volleyball fields - I just don't understand how they can be kept in such perfect condition and in such an incredibly user-friendly format. When the sun sets, the lighting turns on and you can calmly walk around the area without the feeling that “everyone is sleeping, what am I doing here.” We fell in love with the hotel pier because it is long and while you walk to its edge you look around at the sea and once again realize how magnificent it is. When diving from the pier with a mask, be careful! You can choke with delight. It feels like you are in a Jacques-Yves Cousteau film. A very kind and warm sea that did not let us go for all 10 days. In a day you can walk up to 12,000 steps throughout the hotel and not worry that “I eat a lot and move little.” It's strange, but we are already planning our next trip to Egypt with only our beloved Royal Albatros Moderna. Thank you! Shukran!

In general, I enjoyed my stay, a good, solid hotel with well-functioning service, clean rooms, well-groomed beautiful grounds, good restaurants with a large selection, many swimming pools, interesting leisure activities.

Now in more detail:
1. Numbers. We went in two groups. At first we were placed in noisy rooms; our room faced the entrance to the hotel (831), i.e. I had to spend the whole night meeting buses with tourists entering the hotel, and my friends’ number was under the bridge, along which the same buses were passing from above, it was impossible to sleep...
On the trail. day, after a long walk to the reception, they changed our rooms for $20 per room. There are no complaints about the new numbers. Convenient location overlooking the central pool, restaurants, visible sea (1404, 1406), 2 large single beds + a bed for a child, 3rd floor, balcony, furniture is not new, but in good condition, shower, room is spacious, clean.
Cleaning every day. There are RF channels around 6. Channel 12 of STS in the morning while waking up at 7.30 watched children's programs and cartoons.
2. WiFi reception is poor. Only at the reception, in the room, and somewhere on the territory. It’s better to buy a 4G card in the city for $10 and not have to worry.
3. Nutrition. 4 restaurants Italian, Turkish, German and Fast Food and a cafe near the beach. The choice is large, everyone will find something to their liking. Grill - quail, chicken, fish, lulakebab, cutlets, etc., shrimp once a week, a lot of fish, squid. Fruits - sparingly (bananas, apples, orange, melon, grapefruit, date, guava).
Cold cuts are terrible, it’s not clear who or what it’s made from)
The children's menu is terrible, it's better not to try it, the chaff has no taste or smell. For children we selected from the adult menu. Oatmeal, omelets, milk porridge and muesli with milk. Soups suck, honey. It’s better to come for the soup early, otherwise you’ll have to sip on just some water; the grounds are chosen first. You can drink orange juice in the morning, from bags in separate containers, more or less similar to natural juice. At lunch and in the evening, diluted juice like Jupi: orange, apple, pineapple... the chemistry is still the same.
Alcohol is a bit sparse, 3 types of wine (we liked dry rose the most), rum, whiskey, gin - local bottling, rather weak, but drinkable. Beer is average.
Ice cream - in two places: on the veranda near the main building and in Columbus on the 3rd floor from 10 to 17, 00, the quality is not very good.
4. Leisure. In the morning, gymnastics on the lawn, oriental dancing, water aerobics, volleyball. In the evening entertainment first for children, then for adults (2 points - opposite the central restaurant and near the sea) live music, competitions, circus performances, dancing, etc. Fine
5. Children's leisure. There is a children's club. But that's just the name. I would say a children's room. Very small and shabby with a dubious toilet. There is nothing special to do there; the children are left to their own devices. Designers, making crafts, face painting. They didn't even give the children anything to drink. Open from 10:00 to 16:30. It is very inconvenient that it closes at 16:30, since at this time the children are just waking up from their nap.
In the evening there are cartoons on the big screen.
In front of the center building there is a children's disco.
6. Swimming pools. There are many swimming pools. For every taste and depth. There are 2 large children's rooms with different slides and bells and whistles. There are heated pools. A huge minus is that all pools close at 17-17.30. Swimming is prohibited later. Very uncomfortable. We woke up with the children at 16:30 and ran to get at least a little swim in the pool. The heat had just subsided and it was very comfortable, but Alas.
7. Sea. This is the biggest disappointment. Swimming from the shore into the sea is not realistic. Very shallow, rocky and hard bottom. During high tides - knee-deep, during low tides - bone-deep, and so on for 1 km from the shore, no matter how long you go into the sea, everything is shallow.
We bought corrals - 3.50 dollars at the market near the hotel. Walking along the bottom is not very comfortable; there are sharp stones and corals.
To swim, you need to walk along the bridge for 1 km (10 minutes), there are 5 descents with different depths, but there is nothing special to see there - dead, colorless corals, and a few fish. At the very end of the bridge there is a descent into the depths, where it is more interesting, beautiful corals and many bright fish.
But the pleasure of walking 1 km in the heat with your things to go down the iron stairs is not enough. That's not mine.
We bought a diving mask on the market, prices range from 8 to 25 dollars, depending on the quality. (for example, a friend of ours bought the same thing for $30, but it costs $8 there), so buy it there.
It was enough for me to snorkel 5 times to enjoy this activity and that’s all.
I wanted to plunge into the sea from the beach and calmly swim on the waves... but Alas, I realized that on the Red Sea it’s like that everywhere... we’ll look for a more interesting sea.

At 18:00 the pier closes, it quickly got dark after 18:00 the sun began to set, after sunset you cannot be on the beach.

8. Weather. We were unlucky. Half of the holiday there was a cold cyclone with strong winds. There was a storm at sea, it was impossible to swim, only after 14:00 the waves and the wind subsided a little. There was also wind in the evenings. In the sea the water was 18-20 degrees, not comfortable. It was impossible to leave the pool without a towel; the ants were running around in herds. Locals said that even in February it was not so cold.

9. Water park - 5 slides. Go for 2 times.

The hotel positions itself as a family hotel, but the children's menu and children's club are very weak and the closure of children's pools at 17:00 is a mockery.

Although our children were happy.
There are no big complaints about the hotel. More to the sea and weather)
