The entrance to the sea is gentle, the beach is clean, the water is clear. In fact, the name of the beach translates as “crystal clear”. The only inconvenience will be rocks in the sea in some areas. Therefore, we recommend swimming in special shoes or flip-flops.

The northern part of the beach, closest to Patong, is more suitable for swimming.

Due to its favorable location, there are almost no waves here; in any case, they are always smaller than in Patong and others.

How to get there

The beach is only 2.5 km south of and separated from it by a hill, so it is not possible to walk along the coast. If you wish, you can walk from the south of Patong in 40-50 minutes, but you need to understand that the road goes up and down, so count on your strength in the heat.

You can rent a kayak at nearby beaches and swim across the water.

To get to Tri Trang Beach with your own transport, drive along the coast. Then at the fork you turn left and go up the mountain. Next there will be a sign to the Tri Trang Hotel Beach Resort. Drive in that direction and you end up on the beach.

There are not many hotels on Tri Trang beach and near it yet. But construction is underway and more and more housing offers are appearing right on the 1st line.

The beach is located in a closed bay, so there are extremely rare waves here. The place is also known as Emerald Beach, one of the translations inspired by the color of the water.

Until recently, this beach was known only local residents, however, recently it has become more and more visited, but even now there are few casual vacationers here. Most of the beach visitors are guests of a large hotel located nearby.

Tri Trang Beach is a hotel area, so hotel staff carefully monitor its cleanliness. Entrance to the beach is free. If you wish, you can rent sun loungers with umbrellas, which you will find on the shore.

Hotels near Tri Trang Beach

The four-star Tri Trang Beach Resort hotel is located on the first line; paid parking is available there. Also, within walking distance from Tri Trang Beach, you can stay in one of the resort hotels 200-500 meters from the shore. Individual villas are located a little further away.

Coast and natural features

Length coastline is slightly less than 700 meters, and the width is very dependent on the ebb and flow of the tides, which are felt very strongly on this beach.

The entrance to the water at Tri Trang Beach is gentle, convenient for families with children. The water area near the northern part of Tri Trang is more suitable for swimming, since the low tide is felt least strongly here. On the southern part of the beach, the tides are so strong that even the distant rocky section of the bottom is exposed - all this serves as an obstacle to swimming, so if you want to swim first, then you should choose the northern part of the beach.

When going to Tri Trang, it is advisable to study the tide schedule. The schedule can be viewed on the Tide-Forecast website.

Due to its favorable location, there are practically no waves here and you can swim even when it is dangerous to go into the water on other beaches. In the low season, vacationers from other Phuket resorts come here for swimming in a quiet bay.

The beach bay is protected on both sides by protruding green headlands. On the north side, near which the resort hotel is located, there is an area with rental sun loungers and shade umbrellas. The rest of the territory is almost wild beach, although there is developed infrastructure nearby.

Infrastructure

Near the beach there is everything that can be useful for a good rest. If you wish, you can rent a kayak, jet ski, water ski or banana boat ride, hang glider, snorkel, and play beach volleyball.

If you decide to watch the aquatic life, then head to the southern end of the beach - there are diving equipment rental kiosks there. There are two showers on the territory of Tri Triang Beach: one is located at the exit from the beach, and the second is on the right near the massage rooms.

There are also massage parlors nearby where you can relax and rejuvenate. There are cafes and restaurants on the beach where you can taste Thai and European cuisine.

However, if you want to have a fun and noisy time at night, then this place is not suitable for this. It is better to go to Patong - a place that is conducive to nightlife.

Advantages of Tri Trang Beach

This place is perfect for those who want to relax in a calm and serene place without a large crowd of tourists and, at the same time, be close to Patong Beach. Couples with small children will also like it here, since the absence of waves and easy entry into the water are a real boon for children to swim in.

Tri Trang beach is ideal for photo shoots: the turquoise sea, the presence of large stones standing in the north of the beach, beautiful nature- all this provides an opportunity to express your imagination and translate it into interesting photo cards. Distinctive feature The main thing about the beach is that elephants often appear here, which are brought here from excursions for swimming. Therefore, you have the opportunity not only to watch smart animals, but also to take pictures with them. Wedding photo sessions are also often held on the beach, sometimes involving elephants in this process.

And at the very edge of the water, a beach swing hangs on a tall tree: you have the opportunity to think about life, looking at the endless expanse stretching into the horizon, or vice versa - have fun with friends, swing on a swing with your significant other, or play with your child. The pictures here turn out very atmospheric!

Sometimes large cruise ships come to Patong Bay and they stop just opposite Tri Trang Beach. At this time, some tourists take water scooters and swim up to big ships in order to take some photos.

An undoubted advantage of the beach is also the absence of beach vendors here: no one will pester you to sell jewelry, clothes or other goods.

How to get to Tri Trang Beach in Phuket

There is no public transport to the beach, so you can use a tuk-tuk or get there by car or motorbike, rent a kayak and swim by water or just walk.

The distance from Patong Beach to Tri Trang Beach is only 2.5 km, but the beaches are separated from each other by a hill, so it is not possible to walk along the coast. If it’s not too hot and you like hiking, you’ll be able to navigate the road without difficulty. From the south of Patong you can walk in 40-45 minutes, but keep in mind that your path will include a slight elevation change, so it will be difficult to walk in the heat. The main entrance is located next to the Tri Trang Beach Resort, but you can also access the beach through any hole in the fence.

If you travel by your own transport, then to Tri Trang Beach you should go along Thawewong Road to the Tri Trang Beach Resort. From Patong Beach you need to move south along the coast, at the fork turn left and go up the mountain, after which you will see a sign to the Tri Trang Beach Resort hotel, follow the sign. There is a parking lot near the hotel where you can leave your car or bike for a fee. At all daily rental motorbike is one of the most convenient and inexpensive ways to travel between the beaches of Phuket. The approximate rental cost is from 200 baht per day.

You can also use a tuk-tuk service: the trip will cost about 300 baht from Patong or 400 baht if you come from Karon. This is the fastest way to get to Tri Trang Beach.

Sand and sea

The sand on Tri Trang beach is fine, grayish-white, and there are many small pebbles and shells near the surf line. The sea is shallow and you won’t be able to swim properly at low tide. But during high tide you can have great swimming. Be careful when entering the water, there are a lot of rocks and dead corals at the bottom.

The color of the water in the sea depends greatly on whether the sun is shining brightly and whether the tide is high or low. given time. But the water here is definitely not as turquoise as, for example, on the beaches of Surin or Cathay Noi.

Infrastructure

Tri Trang Beach: features

As I have written many times, the beauty of the beach greatly depends on the season, weather, and tides. Even the paradise ones look completely unattractive in the low season... Only the sea remained bright blue-turquoise even during heavy rainfalls.

Arriving for the first time at Tri Trang and finding the beach at low tide, we were very disappointed with the picture we saw: a shallow dirty yellow sea, a lot of stones at the entrance to the water.

There is currently only one hotel operating on the beach itself; it is located on a hill, the rooms have sea views, the hotel has several swimming pools, and there is a free shuttle several times a day to Patong.

Tri Trang Beach Phuket: how to get there

Tri Trang Beach is located between two popular beaches in Phuket: Patong and Karon. From the most southern point Patong (bridge) to Tri Trang is only 2.4 km. But these 2.4 km are not on flat terrain, but on mountains :)

You can get to Tri Trang Beach:

• By taxi/tuk-tuk. From Patong Beach ~ 250 - 300 baht
• By rented bike/car
• Walking from Patong! We were riding a bike and saw quite a lot of vacationers walking from Patong through the mountains to Tri Trang. According to rumors it's about forty minutes walk
• Another option (I haven’t tried it, but what if 🙂): there are free buses from Patong to Paradise Beach. Along the way, these buses pass the descent to Tri Trang Beach. You can try to get there on this free bus.

If we are coming from Patong, then after the bridge over the river we come to a fork: to the right is the Amari Hotel and to the left the road goes into the mountains. Google drew us a route to Tri Trang through the hotel 🙂 so we went like that, and so, there is no way through the hotel, we need to go to the left at the fork, and at the next fork to the right, following the signs for Tri Trang Beach and (to the left is the road to).

Next, the main thing is not to miss the not very noticeable sign for the Tri Trang Beach Resort hotel and the sharp descent down. You can park your bike near the hotel, but there is almost no space for cars. Or ride a bike along the path to the left and go to the sea in the center of the beach between two fences.
