The fact that for Russian people a bathhouse is a shrine, a real ritual and a place of relaxation is known even to many. That is why, by the will of fate, finding themselves abroad - in Prague or another city in the Czech Republic - Russians begin to miss their favorite bathhouses.

On Russian-language forums in the Czech Republic, there are often topics about where you can go for a steam bath in Prague and where in general in Czech capital there are Russian baths. Anyone who dreams of relaxing and resting their soul and body in Russian baths in the Czech Republic is a must read.

Bathhouse and sauna are different

Wet steam

You can find a lot in common between a Finnish sauna and a Russian bath, but the most important thing distinguishes them: in a Russian steam room there must be humid air. Russians traditionally prefer wet steam, while in the Czech Republic and other European countries they “understand” only the sauna - where it is dry and warm.

Brooms from tree branches

Another main attribute of the Russian bath is a broom. It is made from branches of birch, oak, linden, etc. Brooms have a beneficial healing effect on the body. There is no Russian bathhouse without them. It is believed that birch broom relieves joint pain, cleanses the skin and heals wounds. Oak - has a beneficial effect on the skin, normalizes blood pressure. Linden helps get rid of headaches and cure colds.

Alcohol

The bathhouse is also a hangover cure. It is not without reason that lovers of the Russian bath believe that they will get rid of any illness as soon as they visit the steam room. The tradition of drinking alcoholic beverages is inextricably linked with baths.

While you can still afford a glass of beer after a bath, doctors strongly do not recommend drinking vodka in a bath. However, this is still not a hindrance for the Russians. Therefore, a Russian bathhouse must have a spacious dressing room, where there is a large table where you can eat and drink deliciously.

Pouring cold water

Another tradition in Russian baths is pouring cold water from a barrel or bucket, or dipping into cold water. With such sudden changes in temperature, the body experiences a colossal shock and urgently “restarts” in order to recover from the extreme shock. The person feels renewed and fresh.

So are there Russian baths in the Czech Republic? It turns out that there are, although there are not many real ones.

Russian baths in the Czech Republic: Podmoki village

One of the first Russian baths in the Czech Republic (as its owners dubbed it) appeared 50 km from Prague, next to resort town Podebrady in the authentic village of Podmoki. This bathhouse was built by knowledgeable people who have been to Russia more than once and understand well how to take a steam bath.

The Russian bathhouse in Podmoki, Czech Republic, is built from a real log house. The steam room, shelves, benches, tables, decoration - everything is made of natural wood. Here you can take a steam bath with a broom, and then run outside and plunge into a small pool of cold water. After the bath procedures, a small group (up to 8 people) can sit at the table or by the fireplace and relax. This village bathhouse is apparently very popular, since you can only get into it by making an appointment by phone.

Russian bathhouse in Prague - in a log house

Another Russian bathhouse, built from a log house, is in Prague, in the Zlicin area. There are all the necessary attributes of a real Russian bathhouse: brooms, sheets, buckets for dousing, an open area for barbecue and even Russian satellite television. The capacity of this bathhouse is standard - 8-10 people. And you don’t need more, because you want to relax peacefully in a real Russian bathhouse, and not in a public place.

There are other baths and saunas in Prague and other cities of the Czech Republic, but whether they will offer a real wet steam room, good heat and brooms is a big question. Did you manage to find your Russian bathhouse in the Czech Republic? Share in the comments!

The “black” sauna was heated to a high temperature and then ventilated. The heated walls emitted fragrant forest smells, and the fresh air felt light. The long-awaited gym upgrade brought a lot of joy. Especially regarding the pool and sauna - the old one didn’t have them, but the new one does!
Now after training you can go and swim, and then take a steam bath in the sauna.
But somehow I still can’t get used to it, and it’s not that I don’t have time or my health doesn’t allow it. Nope. In a different.
How is it usually? In my backward, old-fashioned and non-European understanding - separately for men, separately for women, yes.
I don’t know how men do it in this case, but women usually come in wrapped in a towel. Sometimes they sit naked.
Or, if the sauna is shared, then everyone is in swimsuits. Or modestly wrapped in towels.
Or is there such twilight and steam that even if they are not wrapped up, it is not particularly visible and even somehow beautiful...

In general, everyone goes to the sauna that is “mine” together. Moreover, women - yes, are wrapped in towels from the armpits to the ankles. That’s how they steam with rare exceptions.
And men wrap themselves in short, short clothes... they come in, sit down, and immediately throw off this short shirt.

No, what am I? I've seen naked men, I'm not embarrassed. But somehow I still don’t feel very good about it, to be honest.
Sometimes it’s interesting to witness conversations: two naked guys of about fifty are sitting, small towels under their butts, legs spread wide apart (you know how men usually sit, right?), everything hangs so tired between their legs, the guys are sweating, puffing, rubbing themselves here and there , then there they discuss the markets:

“And my grandmother always brought chicken from the market on Fridays and cooked the soup afterwards - delicious!”
“Yeah, I remember when cows were sold in the markets!”
“I’ve been going to Naplavka lately, it’s interesting there”
“But I don’t. What’s the point of buying something there? They just inflate prices for supposedly vintage things, go find out who used them and where they got there from. It’s better to go to Kaufland and buy everything you need, new.”

The most interesting thing is that it’s mostly men of advanced age who take steam baths, and not Apollos at all: and it’s they who instantly throw off the towels. And if a handsome boy comes in, having worked hard for a couple of hours at the gym, he’ll sit there wrapped up like that!

Or just the other day.
I walk in and there’s steam on the bottom shelf.
She says that she wants to go back to school. She already has two degrees, but she likes the process, and she also thinks that it will help her in her career.
He nods understandingly and listens.
Their conversation turns to family stories - who his grandfather (editor of a large newspaper) was, hers (a peasant), how his parents treated their studies:
“My mother tried very hard for me to study well. And I sat, crammed, and was an exemplary student. But at the same time, I turned out to be completely unprepared for real life.”
He agrees: “Grades. Your parents cared about grades. And that doesn’t matter at all.”

So they sit and talk.
Naked, face to face, close to each other, legs intertwined, tits and pussies (sorry), folds of skin - all in front of them, before the eyes of each other and everyone else.

I walk in and somehow feel uneasy. Not because someone is naked nearby, or I shy away from naked people.
I just have a very strong feeling of discomfort because it seems to me that I am invading someone’s vulnerable and private zone, that I am becoming a witness to something that should not be so open, or something...
How strong are the moral standards laid down in childhood - no stormy youth erases them from the head.

And naked men and women come in, always politely greet each other, steam, chat, and just as politely say goodbye, leaving and quickly closing the sauna door behind them.

I guess I'll get used to it someday.
In the meantime, I’m thinking - if, say, it’s a couple. And they see each other so completely calmly everywhere and always, they sit naked and chatter, and everyone around them looks at them...
Isn't something lost in this?
What do you think?

I had to be in
